Famous safari parks in Africa
We have compiled a list of some of the most iconic safari destinations on the continent
The Ngorongoro Conservation Area in Tanzania stands out among Africa’s safari parks. It boasts the highest density of large wildlife in the world. Within Ngorongoro, the abundance of fauna is so remarkable that encountering lions, elephants, rhinos, zebras and many other animals is a common experience.
Serengeti National Park is arguably Africa’s most famous wildlife reserve. Here, it’s possible to see the Big Five: lion, elephant, Cape buffalo, rhino, and leopard – all in just one day. The park is also home to a wealth of other iconic animals and birds, making it a top destination for wildlife enthusiasts. The legendary Great Wildebeest Migration, the largest annual movement of land animals on the planet, takes place in the Serengeti.
Tarangire National Park, a prime safari destination in Tanzania, is often the first stop on multi-day safari itineraries. It’s renowned for its picturesque Tarangire River, and stunning landscapes marked by signature baobab and acacia trees. The park is home to large populations of elephants and lions. All that makes Tarangire a must-visit for those just starting their safari adventure or those who have only one day for the trip.
